The Department of Geography & Environmental Studies is one of UNM’s most vibrant academic departments. Our award-winning faculty teaches engaging classes to undergraduate and graduate students studying GIScience, spatial analysis, legal geography, environmental policy and management, historical geography, and cartography, among other topics. We engage both graduate and undergraduate students in high-impact research here in the Southwest and throughout the world, with a particular focus on Latin America and the Atlantic World. Our door is always open, and we welcome prospective students and collaborators to visit our department — either virtually or in person — to explore how you can become a part of UNM Geography & Environmental Studies. News updates and events announcements are posted frequently, so we hope to see you here again soon.
