David Correia

Dr. David Correia received an appointment at The University of New Mexico in 2008, where he currently teaches in the department of Geography and Environmental Studies. As a historical geographer, Correia’s research focuses on labor geography, environmental politics, law’s relation to violence, and New Mexico’s colonial history. He is the author or co-author of six books, including Properties of Violence: Law and Land Grant Struggle in Northern New Mexico (2013), and Set the Earth on Fire: The Great Anthracite Coal Strike of 1902 and the Birth of the Police (2024).

Research: Dr. Correia studies the historical geographies of social and political struggles over land and labor in the United States.
